What is mileage correction?
Mileage correction is the process in changing the vehicles milage on the vehicle clock set in the dashboard. There are many legitimate reasons for doing this on vehicles some of which we have listed below. It is important to know that Keyworx Autokeys will NOT undertake such work should we suspect that a client is wanting to adjust the vehicles milage fraudulently. We will require proof of the milage of the vehicle such as service history and also proof of ownership such as the v5 document. We will also ask you to provide us with a form of photo ID such as your driving licence. This process is in place to both protect Keyworx Autokeys and the client.e
Genuine reasons for mileage correction
New Clock set installation
In this situation you might have had a problem with your existing clock set where the clock sets no longer work and you have bought a brand new set of clocks to install into your vehicle. We can then program the mileage in the clock set to reflect the true mileage of the vehicle that showed on the original clock set of the vehicle.
Existing clock set has been reset or Eeprom data has been corrupted
There are instances where the memory chip (know as the eprom chip) in the clock set on the vehicle can be lost or corrupted resulting in no image being shown on the dashboard, we can repair these clock sets by programming the correct milage back into the cars memory to be displayed on the dashboard again.
Second hand clock set has been installed
You may have installed a second hand clock set that will be showing the wrong mileage, Keyworx Autokeys can amend the mileage to show the true milage of the vehicle using the latest auto locksmith equipment and software in the industry, please note that we will require you to provide proof of ownership on the vehicle along with proof of the requested milage that you would like to be made such as up to date service history.

The long and short of this is that it in NOT illegal to amend a vehicles mileage, Its is however illegal to adjust a vehicles mileage for the purpose of fraud to portray that the vehicle is worth more than it actually is, when trying to sell the vehicle. If you have mileage correction carried out on a vehicle you MUST let the buying party know that this has been carried out and for what reason. Failure to do this could result in criminal prosecution to the person committing the fraud. We must stress that Keyworx Autokeys will not carry out any mileage correction services where we believe that it is being done for fraudulent reasons.
